We have a long-term care product, which you can pay for with one lump sum. Many of our clients are repositioning assets from CD’s, savings accounts, checking accounts, money market accounts, etc., into this product. What you get is a tax free death benefit if you die and never needed the long-term care insurance and if you do end up needing home health care or end up needing to move into a facility, you will be covered by the long-term care insurance portion of the product. The best part about it is that if you change your mind in the future, for whatever reason, this product has a lifetime money back guarantee. If at any point in time you want your money back you can cancel the policy and get 100% of your money back. One other nice thing about this contract is that it is 100% guaranteed. You don’t ever have to worry about your premiums going up in the future or your benefits being reduced.

On November 10, 2010 MetLife announced the decision to dicontinue the sale of their Individual LTCI products (VIP2 and MetLife LTC LifeStage Advantage), including those sold through their Multi-Life Program, and their Employer Group LTCI products.

MetLife has had a dedicated LTCI division for approximately 25 years. According to MetLife this will not impact existing insureds’ coverage. As long as premiums are paid on time, coverage cannot be cancelled, however premiums for coverage can be raised on a class basis.

Many carriers have come in and out of the LTCI market. Many have had to increase premiums on existing policies. The fact remains that many Americans will need long-term care services and it can be very costly.

The last day to submit individual LTC applications for MetLife will be December 30, 2010. If your application is signed and submitted on or prior to such date it will be processed as usual.
